Solar Panels - Project Manager Volunteer

CompuCorps.org is a Canadian high tech charity that helps nonprofit organizations become more efficient and self-sustainable through computer volunteer projects, technology consulting and computers. To enhance public awareness of computer refurbishment and youth opportunities with local community and corporations we are seeking people who should have skills and strong interest in Project Management. The Solar Panels Project Manager Volunteer will help CompuCorps.org to research, develop and install a complete solar panel system on the roof to generate electricity and sell to the power grid system. OBJECTIVES: - Provide strategic oversight to set the vision and goals for the Solar Panels project. - Ensure the financial viability of the project, including review of: the pricing structure, risk exposure of the CompuCorps.org, staffing/volunteers needs, government regulations (all levels), and cost/benefits to the CompuCorps.org. - Ensure that the Solar Panels project enhances the effectiviness, visibility and strength of the CompuCorps.org into the Renewable Energy program. RESPONSIBILITIES: Promotion and Marketing: - Develop and implement ongoing marketing plan to engage corporations in the project. - Promote the project at non-profit organizations workshops and conventions. - Develop and oversee visual branding updates and feature improvements. Set up, Training and Ongoing Support: - Train and support volunteers in initial and ongoing Solar Panels project implementation, e.g., sending support/sponsorship letters to the companies. - Assist the volunteers with presentations, fundraising, team building, training, technical support and promotion to ensure successful implementation. - Document policies, procedures, training materials and templates to assist with set up, training and support. Coordinate Support Volunteers - Find, train, and oversee volunteers for a variety of positions and responsibilities. SKILLS: - Ideally have received or are pursuing a degree/certificate in Renewable Energy/Engineering - Highly organized and efficient with deadlines, budget and multiple projects. - Good public speaking, communication skills - Detail oriented and ability to manage varied projects with limited supervision - Comfort level with and proficiency in communicating with other groups - Ability to relate well to diverse populations - Ability to work with limited supervision and commit to a 40 hours project over 3 months.
