International Women Volunteer: Barriers Facing Immigrant Women Volunteering in Ottawa

A new report prepared and released by Volunteer Ottawa on March 23, 2010 about the barriers facing immigrant women volunteering in Ottawa.

Women who have elected to emigrate and settle in Canada experience significant multi-intersectional challenges related to both their gender and immigrant status. This report explores the barriers faced by newcomer women to volunteer; what supports helped reduce or eliminate those barriers; what organizations can do differently to open their programs to recruit from this growing demographic.

The “International Women Volunteer: Barriers Facing Immigrant Women Volunteering in Ottawa” report is now available.
