Employment Mentor (IT, Accounting and Human Resource Background Preferred)

The goal of this program is to train volunteers, who have several years of professional or human resources related experience, to help Internationally Educated Professionals (IEP) pursue their career advancement in Canada. All the volunteer mentors and mentees take the program together, where the participants learn practical job search techniques, practice in small groups and engage in mock interviews . After the training is complete, each mentee is matched up with an appropriate mentor, each mentor will provide one to one support once a week for minimum 3 months. Space is limited to 15 participants, training starts from in mid September, 2012

The volunteers will learn job search and career coaching skills, and also build a gorup of professional network.

Volunteer Mentors will learn and develop career and cultural competencies, leadership and community building skills, strategies for community inclusion, a method for assessing IEP competencies and contributions, strategic research methodologies, confidence building techniques, trust and listening skills. Volunteer Mentors are asked to make a commitment to complete the training and assist at least one IEP.
