Do you have a well-groomed , polite, obedient and friendly dog? You could share your perfect four legged friend with clients in hospitals, long term care facilities, senior residences and day programs. OTD provides both assisted therapy (handler and dog work directly with a health care professional) and pet visits to those who need support, comfort and encouragement.
You must have a demonstrated knowledge of basic dog obedience and handling, your dog must be a minimum of 2 years old.
We offer an orientation evening for those interested, followed by evaluations of dog and handler.Volunteering with your dog is a great way to spend more time with your pooch while helping often "forgotten" people.
