Volunteer Major Donor Funding Officer @ Congo Yetu Initiative

Position: Volunteer Major Donor Funding Officer Organization: Congo Yetu Initiative (CYI) Location: Ottawa Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible Reporting to: Executive Director Description: To help increase and sustain CYI's income by developing and maintaining long-term relationships with statutory funders, trusts, foundations and major donors. Duties and Responsibilities --To identify and research funding opportunities, regionally and nationally, and identify those that will assist in meeting the organization's objectives. --Write project proposals, research and evaluate funding proposals, write concept paper and conduct donors/fund site visits and phone calls with grants to research Funding proposals --To provide timely and high quality information, guidance and advice on appropriate external funding opportunities. --Provide support and advice on the preparation and submission of corporate funding bids. --Develop an External Funding Strategy, targeting key funding opportunities in relation to the CYI's strategic priorities. --Liaise as appropriate with other service areas on developing systems to support projects funded by external organizations, ensuring that appropriate systems and procedures are in place to monitor and evaluate the outcomes of the project. --Promote opportunities to secure external funding in particular to community and voluntary groups, advising them in making funding applications --Work with community and voluntary groups to strengthen their capacity to obtain external funding and to develop and manage effective projects. --Collate and analyze information on social, economic and demographic trends and use information to generate external funding proposals, emphasizing both social inclusion and business and competitiveness. --To prepare reports for CYI Committees and other bodies as required. --To attend meetings, as required in relation to the duties of the position, committees, working groups, public meetings and meetings with external organizations. --To identify and broker project partnerships where these facilitate access to specific funding opportunities. --To lead on the establishment of project teams, scoping in staff from across the Council, where multidisciplinary skills are required to secure funding. --To set up appropriate monitoring and review systems for external funding. --To seek match funding options where necessary. --Undertake other duties and responsibilities of a similar professional nature and at a similar level of responsibility to those described above, which may be allocated from time to time Position Qualifications The ideal candidate has the following qualifications: --Bachelor's degree and/or College diploma in marketing, business administration, communications or other relevant field of study or be able to display an equivalent level of competence. --Minimum of 2 years experience in fundraising, marketing, foundations or related field, preferably in the not-for-profit/development sector. --Knowledge of Canadian and International Foundations --Demonstrated abilities in strategic planning and project management --Strong research abilities and excellent written and oral communication skills --Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment and individually --Ability to meet and hold to strict timelines --Excellent organizational skills --Ability to multi-task How to Apply: Please submit cover letter and resume by email to Desire Kilolwa: volunteercyi@gmail.com, or call 613-421-0461, Please use %u201CVolunteer Grants/Proposal Funding Officer%u201D as subject line. www.congoyetu.org
