Bike Festival - Road Side Musician (Sat. June 1) @ Capital Vélo Fest Inc.

Capital Vélo Fest, an Ottawa based non-profit corporation with the mission to "Inspire People of All Ages To Ride A Bike More Often". We accomplish this by organizing fun cycling events and activities in partnership with governments, cycling advocacy groups and the cycling industry. Our main event is a bicycle festival. Held at Ottawa City Hall on Saturday June 1st, it consists of a Bike Rodeo during the day with cycling information, demonstrations, entertainment and games. In the evening we have a Tour La Nuit, a bike ride under the stars without any cars, on closed off streets. The Road Side Musician position is for someone who plays in a band. The band will set up at a designated location along the route of the Tour La Nuit and play music as the riders pass by. Some electrical power will be available, but is limited. Bands that are acoustic (drums, brass, etc) are ideal.

Create a lively atmosphere for people who are riding in the Tour La Nuit.

Gain skills and experience in : leadership; dealing with the public; festival operations; ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment. Have fun. Receive a cool cycling themed t-shirt and an invitation to a volunteer appreciation picnic later in the summer. Take pride in helping to "inspire people of all ages to ride a bike more often", and all the societal benefits that follow.
