The Emergency Food Program at the Rideau-Rockcliffe Community Resource Centre serves approximately 10,000 individuals a year. This is one of the many support services offered by the center. The Emergency Food Program is open twice a week and available to clients once per calendar month. The objective of the program is to provide clients with sufficient food to last them three or four days. This service is organized by a Coordiantor and run by a group of ongoing volunteers.
Food Sorters and Packers - must be available on Tuesday's 1:00pm - 3:30pm.
A volunteer Food Sorter and Packer can expect to be trained by the Coordinator to work alongside a diverse team that unload the food trucks and sort through the food, placing it on appropriate shelves or in fridges/freezers. Must be able to lift or move objects of twenty to forty pounds.
