Aditi Sivakumar has continuously exemplified a strong philanthropic drive and has been an avid volunteer in her community. In the past she has volunteered at the Ottawa Public Library, Inspirations Camps, Breast Cancer Action, numerous laboratories both in Kingston and Ottawa, Breakfast Club, and has helped build schools in the rural town of La Romana in the Dominican Republic.
She was an Executive Member for the club Generations and the External Programming Officer for a Women’s Leadership Organization, where she planned and executed philanthropic events to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
This year alone she volunteers at the Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre as a Peer Supporter, the Chrysalis House, the Red Oak Retirement Home, the Perley and Rideau Veterans Health Centre, the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, as well as the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute.
Aditi has graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Honors) Major in Life Sciences Degree from Queen’s University. Her future goal is to become a pediatric surgeon. Following her medical placement in the Dominican Republic, Aditi gained a passion for global health and hopes to be able to use her desired career not only to help children locally but on a global scale as well. Aditi receives such joy from helping others and is confident that she will carry her philanthropic pursuits into the future.
