George is an aerospace engineer with MDS Aero and President of the Board of The Tandem Project. He started volunteering with The Tandem Project’s Won with One triathlon team in 2011. Won with One pairs guides with blind/visually-impaired athletes so that all may participate in the sport of triathlon. George raised significant amounts of funds by engaging his co-workers at MDS. He created a call to action within MDS for the 2’s Company Duathlon - a guided event involving both snowshoeing and running. George spread the word among his colleagues at MDS who came out in droves to join in the fun and support blind athletes to accomplish their dreams. The importance of community and working together towards a common goal is emphasized within MDS’s corporate culture. MDS encourages participation in charitable and community events, participating in event like the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation, Movember Fundraising, The Snowsuit Fund, Toy Mountain, Food Bank Sort Challenge, Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival, Ottawa’s Alternative Slopitch Tournament and The Spartan Race.
