VO is recruiting and deploying volunteers to respond to the volunteer needs specific to COVID-19 in Ottawa, Prescott-Russell, Lanark County and Renfrew County while ensuring proper screening and training protocals to safeguard the health of those volunteering and those they are assisting. The Tandem Project’s Won with One Triathlon Team program was formed in 2009 to support people who are blind to realize their dreams as athletes in the sport of triathlon by providing equipment, opportunities and solutions. Every year, The Tandem Project (TTP) invites selected athletes to join the WWO Triathlon Team program, who are sponsored to participate in selected major races in Canada. There are over 800,000 people in Canada who are blind or living with vision loss facing risk of social isolation and reduced community participation. 90% of the volunteers in Canada are looking for a meaningful way to contribute to their community.They bridge this gap by building connections between the blind and sighted community to foster extraordinary partnerships. In the past eight years, the WWO triathlon program has offered a unique and meaningful way for over 300 volunteers find a way to give back through sport and created a powerful bond between two communities.
