Your charitable organization stands for something important. You get your message out all the time, to the press, on social media, and in talking with the public. Advocating on hot topics becomes a lot riskier as we move into an election season if you aren’t alive to the laws regulating advocacy—even non-partisan advocacy. Learn how to navigate the grey zone between partisan and non-partisan messages to protect your organization’s charitable status. Learn about the new, low threshold for election advertising that your charity might accidentally cross with a single non-partisan social media post, and what to do when that happens. Volunteer Ottawa and Drache Aptowitzer LLP want you to tell your organization’s story inside and out of an election period without risking tens of thousands of dollars in potential fines or the 100% revocation tax.
