Ride for Refuge (Bike/walk-a-thon)

September 30, 2017

Ride for Refuge in Ottawa is a family-friendly cycling and walking event, hosted by Matthew House Ottawa (MHO), where many different charities can raise money, including us! This year the RIDE will be the morning of Saturday, September 30th. This is MHO’s biggest fundraiser of the year, so please consider lacing up or donning a helmet! Our goal is $30,000. Can you help us?
You can create your own team of friends and family or join our Matthew House Open Team. Team members all raise money for the same charity, but don’t need to ride/walk together or even do the same distances. This year the RIDE is offering cyclists a choice of 50km, 25km and 10km routes and a 5km route for walkers. When you raise at least $150 ($75 for youth), you get a free long-sleeve shirt and your registration fee is waived!
After all your work, a yummy lunch is provided! CHRI radio station will be there to liven the atmosphere and even the mayor will be there to say a few words to launch you off!
If cycling or walking is not for you, please consider volunteering for the event. It takes a crew of over 60 volunteers to run the event smoothly!
You can sign up to cycle, walk or volunteer at Please help us raise what we need to run our programs another year – and have a great time doing it!
If you have any questions that you can’t find answers to on the website, feel free to email general inquiries to and more specific questions to (MHO treasurer & Ottawa RIDE co-director).
