VO Workshop in Volunteer Management: Orientation & Training

Orientation & Training

Volunteers who are well-trained and who understand the organizational context of their role will be more effective and will have more reason to continue volunteering. This workshop will explore orientation and training, and how each fits in with volunteer onboarding. You will come away with strategies to develop orientation and training practices at your organization which are based on current research in adult learning and best practices in the field of volunteer management.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain the similarities and differences between orientation and training
  • Apply current best practices in adult education to your own organization's orientation and training program for volunteers
  • Develop learning outcomes for your own organization's volunteer training program

Your Instructor:

Cédric St-Amour is the volunteer coordinator for Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation, which manages three museums in the Ottawa area: Science and Technology Museum, Agriculture and Food Museum, and Aviation and Space Museum.

Cancellation Policy

Receipt of registration will be confirmed by e-mail or best alternative. No refunds will be issued for cancellations received within five (5) business days prior to an event. If cancellation is received with more than five (5) business days before the event, a $5.00 administration fee will apply. Registered participants who fail to attend an event will be invoiced for the full fee, due 30 days from the date of the invoice. Registration can be transferred to another member of your organization, if you are unable to attend
