COVID-19 Update

VO is implementing a plan focused on recruitment and deployment of volunteers to respond to the volunteer needs specific to COVID-19. As part of that plan we will be working with Ottawa Public Health and other agencies to ensure proper screening and training protocals to safeguard the health of those volunteering and those they are assisting. Within the next week, volunteers will be able to register for COVID-19 specific volunteering, including virtual volunteering, food delivery and transportation, and agencies will be able to post and/or send VO their COVID-19 specific needs for volunteer matching. In the interim, Agencies can view resources and additional information on our Members COVID-19 Update and volunteer resources are available at our COVID-19 Volunteer Update.

Bring on the Bay - Open Water Swim for Easter Seals

July 8, 2020

Bring on the Bay is the largest open water swim in Eastern Canada, with over 750 swimmers participating in one of two races: our traditional 3k swim from the Nepean Sailing Club to the Britannia Yacht Club or our 1.5k fun swim that starts midway along the route and also finishes at the Britannia Yacht Club. The 2020 event takes place Saturday, July 11th and we are expecting 950 swimmers! All proceeds from the event go to Easter Seals so that we can continue our work in providing funding and other opportunities to kids with physical disabilities. The need for funding is urgent as we currently have 450 children on our waiting list who need funding for basic items such as bath seats and commodes.
We need volunteers in a variety of capacities from July 8 to July 11 which is the day of the actual event.
