VO Workshop in Volunteer Management: Supervision and Monitoring

Supervision & MonitoringA good supervisor creates a safe environment for volunteers to learn and develop, to grow with their role in knowledge, motivation, and autonomy. Effective supervision is a mix of supporting growth, providing appropriate praise, creating a culture of excellence and accountability, and reinforcing relationships with all team members.

After completing the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify factors which contribute to effective supervision of volunteers
  • Illustrate the importance of staff involvement in volunteer supervision and associated impact on risk management
  • Understand the role of volunteer resources staff in supervision
  • Examine various tools/resources which support staff in supervising volunteers

Stoparczyk_Rachel_pic.jpgRachel Stoparczyk, CVA, is the Coordinator, Volunteer Services at The Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre. Rachel has 14 years’ experience leading diverse teams of volunteers, including previous roles with Volunteer Ottawa, VSO Canada and the Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre. She chaired the Canadian Journal of Volunteer Resources Management, and was a board member with Ottawa Administrators of Volunteer Resources and Distress Centre of Ottawa and Region. In addition to achieving the Certified in Volunteer Administration designation, Rachel received a certificate in Volunteer Resources Management from Algonquin College. She is a lifelong volunteer who currently enjoys her one-to-one match through the Ottawa Carleton Association for Persons with Developmental Disabilities. Rachel looks forward to sharing and learning with you.

Cancellation Policy

Receipt of registration will be confirmed by e-mail or best alternative. No refunds will be issued for cancellations received within five (5) business days prior to an event. If cancellation is received with more than five (5) business days before the event, a $5.00 administration fee will apply. Registered participants who fail to attend an event will be invoiced for the full fee, due 30 days from the date of the invoice. Registration can be transferred to another member of your organization, if you are unable to attend
