VO COVID Training: Adapting to Virtual Volunteering and Keeping Volunteers Engaged

December 3, 2020, 9:00 - 10:30 AM

Virtual volunteering has been around long before COVID-19, but the current constraints under which we are living has made it something that many nonprofits are now considering for the first time to help them address physical distancing and gathering restrictions, suspended or closed volunteer programs. In addition, some of those restrictions have caused many volunteers to have to step away from volunteering.

Learning objectives:

  • Planning for virtual volunteering
  • Managing volunteers in virtual roles
  • Technology options
  • Keeping volunteers engaged

Who should attend:

  • Volunteer managers
  • Program managers

This is a virtual workshop.

Adam Janes

Adam is a passionate not for profit professional with a heart for advocacy and is currently the Volunteer Coordinator with Christie Lake Kids, a non-profit which serves economically disadvantaged children and youth in Ottawa, by providing recreation and skill-building programs. In this role, he has successfully doubled the organization’s base number of volunteers, developing over 200 short- and long-term volunteer members. He has also contributed his time and expertise on a volunteer basis, including GenNEXT Ottawa, CLK’s Leaders in Training program and is involved in several community tables (Youth Leadership, Keeping Kids Healthy). Adam lives in Ottawa with his wife and three amazing children.
