VO Workshop: How to Prepare for your Annual Audit

Preparing_for_Annual_Audit.jpgAudits are a good thing. Your annual audit is a critical tool to ensure that your financial procedures are in order and your financial systems are strong. There is a lot you can do to prepare for your audit, to ensure it goes smoothly and quickly. This will save you money and establish a healthy relationship with your auditor, who can become a valuable ally to help develop strong financial controls and reporting, which can improve the confidence of your board and your funders moving forward.

Learning objectives

  • Understand which organizations need to have their books audited
  • Know what statements you need to prepare
  • Know what documentation to prepare, and how to prepare it to ensure a smooth audit
  • Internal controls you can use to improve your organization’s financial practices

Who should attend

Everyone who is involved with organizational finances, which could include anyone on the board, as well as Bookkeeper, Office Coordinator, Program Managers, or Executive Director.

About your Instructor

Annik Blanchard, CPA, CA, is a Partner in BDO Canada with over 20 years of professional experience providing assurance services to not-for-profit and public sector organizations.

Annik is actively involved in the community as a Board Member of the Winchester District Memorial Hospital and as a Board member for Embrun Watch.  In addition, she volunteers through the CPA Canada financial literacy program for intermediate and high school students.  Annik was named as a 2018 Forty Under 40 recipient (Ottawa).

Cancellation Policy 

An email confirming this registration will be sent to the primary email address for your member account, or the email address on this form if you are a non-member. Your registration is transferrable to anyone else within your organization. The following workshop registrations are non-refundable: (a) purchased at a discounted rate, (b) purchased using a voucher, or (c) cancellation received less than five (5) business days prior to the event. Any other cancellation is refundable, subject to a $10.00 administration fee.

You can access Zoom Meeting on any device. Volunteer Ottawa will send you a link a few days before the workshop takes place.

To access Zoom on a computer, click the meeting-specific URL you will receive. Zoom will automatically install any software required.

To access Zoom on a phone or tablet, visit the relevant App store and search for Zoom. Download Zoom Cloud Meeting. About 5 mins before your meeting or course, open the app, click Join Meeting, and enter in the meeting number you will receive.
