Volunteer Opportunities

We are looking for kitchen volunteers to help our staff prepare and serve hot meals!

Every day, we serve hundreds of hot meals to our community. We serve breakfast from 8AM-9:30AM and lunch 1PM-2:30PM. We also prep meals for after school programs as well as deliver hot meals to nearby community housing.

In this role, you would:
-help prepare and serve clients breakfast and lunch
-help prepare meals for deliveries
-help clean the kitchen after preparation
-clean dishes using the commercial dishwasher
-must be able to lift 25 lbs and must wear proper footwear

This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to get work experience or volunteer hours. We provide our volunteers with a hot meal and references. You would be working under the direction of a red seal chef in our commercial kitchen.

Shifts are available Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:30AM-10:30AM or 12:45-4PM. We are flexible and can work together to find a schedule that suits your needs, so please reach out if you are available during the day but might not be able to do these exact shifts.

We are looking for volunteers for our clothing programs! At the Caldwell Family Centre, we have a clothing depot that sells clothing for children and adults as well as household items at affordable prices to help the community afford what they need. All proceeds go towards our clothing assistance program which provides free boxes of clothing to those in need.

In the clothing depot, we are looking for volunteers with a retail background to:
-help organize, merchandise and price donated items
-sort through donated items for items to sell
-assist in sales to our clients
-help train new comers to Canada, or those who are new to working, in retail procedures and processes to help them gain work experience

In our clothing assistance program, we are looking for volunteers to:
-help sort donated items
-create clothing assistance boxes based on the needs of the client who submitted the request
-follow up with clients to ensure they were satisfied
-great for those who need work experience, are new to Canada or need volunteer hours

We offer flexible shifts from Tuesday-Friday, 8AM-12PM & 1PM-4PM. We can help find a schedule that suits your needs! We offer all volunteers a hot meal and references.

We are looking for volunteers to help with our foodbank at the Caldwell Centre. Every day, we provide hundreds of clients with fresh food. In some cases, we provide 80-85% of a household's food. We also deliver food to those who are disabled and not able to make it to our location.

In this role, you would:
-unpack donated food
-categorize and box donated food
-unload food delivery Monday mornings
-pack boxes for food bank deliveries
-serve clients who come into the food bank by providing them with the food items they need
-register new clients in the system
-share agency programming with those who need additional services
-must be able to lift 25 lbs and must wear closed toe shoes

We have opportunities available Monday to Friday, 8AM-12PM & 1PM-4PM.

We are flexible and can work with you to find a schedule that suits you! We have a scheduling app that ensures you are able to schedule yourself whenever you have time. We offer our volunteers a hot lunch as well as references if needed.
