Shelter Movers of Ottawa is a volunteer-based charitable organization that provides moving and storage services at no cost to women and children experiencing abuse. We collaborate with community partners to help families transition to a life free of violence. With full capacity with volunteers, training and security in place services provided will be:
Urgent Exit: volunteers arrive at a client's home to help pack and store items. When client is ready, volunteers will transport to a shelter
Escorted Exit: if client is already in a shelter, volunteers will return to the household with security and place items in storage.
Resettlement Assistance: when client requires assistance to move her,her children and their items to the new home.

Fundraising Event Coordinators work closely with our Fund Development Manager to support our annual fundraising gala. Team members will have dedicated responsibilities before, during, and after the event, which is scheduled to take place in September. Members of this team are key to the success of the event--directly enabling Shelter Movers to deliver services in our communities.
Essential Skills & Knowledge:
Strong communication skills--verbal and written.
Advanced interpersonal and public relations skills.
Professional, outgoing manner.
High comfort level in soliciting donations, and engaging potential donors with our organization's mission.
Ability to exercise tact and discretion--including protecting donor/guest information.
A record of reliability and trustworthiness.
Self-motivated; able to work without supervision.
Able to prioritize workloads and meet established deadlines.
Able to work independently and as part of a team.
High attention to detail.
Familiarity with spreadsheets and database systems.
A positive, 'can-do' attitude.
Experience in fundraising, event planning, and the non-profit sector are strong assets, but not required. We will provide training and ongoing support.
