The Kanata Food Cupboard is dedicated to ensuring that the organization recruits the board members it needs to ensure maximum impact, while striving to support and promote excellence in board service. The Kanata Food Cupboard is incorporated Federally and operates as a charitable organization recognized by Canada Revenue Agency.
Our board members champion the importance of exceptional board leadership and believe that each and every organization needs a strong and effective board to fully realize its potential for good. We are looking for individuals with skills in human resources, financial planning, property management, reporting and data analysis, IT and more!
Serving on the Board of Directors is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about helping those who are food insecure in the Kanata community.
Board Members will help establish policies, make significant and strategic decisions, and to oversee the organization's activity.
Board members are expected to have the financial acumen to read and understand financial statements and to otherwise help the board fulfill its fiduciary responsibilities.
Board members are expected to attend up to 12 board meetings per year.
They are expected to read board materials in advance of board meetings and to come prepared to ask questions and participate in discussions.
Board members are expected to serve on one or more committees of the board and to participate in committee work as needed. Board terms last for two years and board members can serve for up to five consecutive terms.
In addition to the standard roles and responsibilities of a board member, our board
members are active advocates and ambassadors for the organization and are fully engaged in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for the Kanata Food Cupboard to advance its mission.
