The Kanata Food Cupboard is a non-profit charitable organization recognized in Canada as a registered charity.

Our Mission Statement
Our primary mission is to provide the healthiest possible food choices by engaging and inspiring our Kanata community.

Services are provided to all residents of Kanata who self-identify as needing food assistance.

Services are provided regardless of race, ethnicity, ability, age, sexual orientation, income or religion. The organization is non-sectarian, non-denominational, non-partisan, working for the best interests of its members and clients.

Organization: Kanata Food Cupboard
The Kanata Food Cupboard is dedicated to ensuring that the organization recruits the board members it needs to ensure maximum impact, while striving to support and promote excellence in board service.

The Kanata Food Cupboard Board of Directors comprises leaders from the non-profit and for-profit sector who are dedicated to the organization’s mission. The Kanata Food Cupboard is incorporated Federally and operates as a charitable organization recognized by Canada Revenue Agency.

Our board members champion the importance of exceptional board leadership and believe that each and every organization needs a strong and effective board to fully realize its potential for good. In addition to the standard roles and responsibilities of a board member, our board members are active advocates and ambassadors for the organization and are fully engaged in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for the Kanata Food Cupboard to advance its mission.

The Kanata Food Cupboard Board of Directors comprises leaders from the non-profit and for-profit sector who are dedicated to the organization’s mission. Serving on the Board of Directors is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about helping those who are food insecure in the Kanata community.

Board members are expected to have the financial acumen to read and understand financial statements and to otherwise help the board fulfill its fiduciary responsibilities.
Board members are expected to attend up to 12 board meetings per year. They are expected to read board materials in advance of board meetings and to come prepared to ask questions and participate in discussions.
Board members are expected to serve on one or more committees of the board and to participate in committee work as needed.

Board terms last for two years and board members can serve for up to five consecutive terms.

We are currently recruiting diverse leaders with expertise in Board Leadership, Fundraising, Donor Stewardship, Marketing, Operations, and Human Resources.

The Kanata Food Cupboard is seeking well-connected leaders who are passionate about providing the healthiest food choices possible to those in need in Kanata, and can leverage his/her networks and resources in support of efforts to positively impact the work of the charity.

The ideal candidate has a track-record of supporting charitable causes, passion for the mission, and leadership skills to help lead Board discussions.

The ideal board candidate would have prior non-profit board member experience or have received formal board training, although not necessary.
