COVID-19 Update

VO is recruiting and deploying volunteers to respond to the volunteer needs specific to COVID-19 in Ottawa, Prescott-Russell, Lanark County and Renfrew County while ensuring proper screening and training protocals to safeguard the health of those volunteering and those they are assisting. Please see the intake portals for volunteers, for members, and for other agencies on our hompage. VO’s COVID 19 volunteer deployment program is supported by the Government of Canada’s Emergency Community Support Fund and the Ottawa Community Foundation.

Improve access to communication networks, provide good food and cultivate community spirit in under-served Ottawa neighbourhoods.

Communication networks includes telephones, social media and the internet in particular with regards to Canada declaration CRTC that high speed Internet access was a basic human need in our country. It also includes people networking.

Good Food is healthy, nutritious, tasty and culturally appropriate.

Community spirit is a general trust, respect, empathy for one another which will translate into mutual help, cooperation and synergy in all manners of life in the community.

Volunteer Opportunities

Help us spread Holiday Cheer- Delivery drivers needed to deliver special Christmas meals from December 13 to December 23.
Packaged meals to be delivered to various locations across Ottawa. Own vehicle required. Only drop off- minimal/ no contact at all locations.

Deadline: Dec 4, 2020
Help us spread Holiday Cheer in these difficult times. Food for Thought will be preparing ad distributing about 6000 special Christmas meals from December 13 to December 23. Help is needed to package and deliver the meals and see lots of thankful and smiling faces all across Ottawa.
All safety and social distancing measures will be taken care of . The prepared food needs to be packaged in containers. Also, drivers needed to take the meals to locations across the city (Only drop off , no actual contact required at any location)
