VO is recruiting and deploying volunteers to respond to the volunteer needs specific to COVID-19 in Ottawa, Prescott-Russell, Lanark County and Renfrew County while ensuring proper screening and training protocals to safeguard the health of those volunteering and those they are assisting. English Language Tutoring for the Ottawa Community (ELTOC) is a non-profit charity organization that provides individualized and accessible home-based English as a Second Language (ESL) training tutoring to adult newcomers who cannot attend regular classes.

ELTOC achieves its mission by matching newcomers to ELTOC-trained volunteers in the community who go to the students' homes and provide one-on-one English language tutoring. Emphasis is given to practical English skills that allow newcomers to integrate into Canadian life.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer tutors are needed to provide online one-to-one English language tutoring to Syrian refugees located in Ottawa.
- No prior teaching experience is necessary,
- We provide the materials
- Training and ongoing support from our qualified TESL certified Education Counsellors are provided.

English Language Tutoring for the Ottawa Community is looking for experienced ESL tutors to help us tutor English to adult newcomers who have no access to ESL or LINC classes.
- The English level of the learners is very low ( Literacy or CLB1).
- The tutoring will be online for 2 hours a week.

Le Savez-vous? Les tâches qui paraissent simples pour les canadiens, comme prendre l’autobus, parler à un médecin, assister à une entrevue parent-enseignant, aller à la banque, demander la direction…, et bien d’autres peuvent être très difficiles pour les réfugiés ou toute autre personne nouvellement arrivée qui manquent de connaissances en français et ne sont pas en mesure de suivre des cours de français pour toutes sortes de raisons.
Une occasion qui vous permettra de partager vos connaissances et de faire une différence dans la vie d'un nouvel arrivant au Canada.
