We are a Long Term Care home that provides health care services to individuals, who need 24 hours of nursing care. There are 114 people, who call Longfeilds Manor home. We are located in a family community in Barrhaven. We have a variety of meaningful programs in the home, that involve family, friends and the community. come and be a part of our team.

Evening Activities Helper (Movie Day, Reading with residents, Facilitating small group activities, Beading, Choosing Colour, Bingo, Play Cards, Scrabble, Board Games etc) Reporting to: Programming Department Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: - assisting residents to and from activity - set up and clean up after activity - monitoring residents during activity Commitment Required: Evenings for 5-8 (weekdays) Qualifications And Personal Qualities Required: - friendly, outgoing - able to approach residents independently - patience, tactful, well-mannered, polite, flexible - should feel comfortable being alone with resident(s)

Reporting to: Administrative Department Purpose of Position: To provide support to the home. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: - Ability to work independently. - Ability to answer phone in a pleasant manner as required - Provide direction to visitors and ensure that they are signed in. - Answer questions from suppliers and the public at large Commitment Required: Daily 8:00 -12:00 noon, 12:00-4:00pm and 4:00-9:00 pm Qualifications And Personal Qualities Required: - Friendly, outgoing - Be adaptable to environment - Need to be flexible to the day to day challenges Training/Orientation Provided: - General volunteer orientation. - Initial orientation of visitor sign-in process. - Ongoing orientation and training within the home.

We are looking for someone to sit with a resident we have living in our home, who is develop mentally delayed. They are able to communicate and would benefit from someone coming in a few times a week to play games, listen to music, spending time with them.

To provide asssiatnce to residents during meal times. Responsiblities: - Ability to take instruction from nurse/staff - Ability to feed and/or assist residents during meal time - Ability to take initiative - Ability to assist in the set-up or clean-up before and after meal services Commitment required: One hour daily during lunch (12 to 1 p.m) or supper (5 to 6 p.m) Qualification and personal qualities required: - Friendly - Able to approach residents independently. - Patient, tactful, polite and flexible. - Should feel comfortable being alone with residents. - Able to be adaptable to a changing environment - Need to be aware of changing cognitive environment at all times. Training/Orientation Provided: - General volunteer tarining/orientation - View video ""Hands that Feed"" - Initial orientation with assigned resident - Ongoing orientation and tarining within the home.
