The ELF offers a low-cost, highly effective solution to ending Canadian poverty. Utilizing literacy as a tool for youth leadership, empowerment, and critical success skills, the ELF breaks the cycle of poverty our youth experience. We are not a response-based organization, our mission is to prevent, and eventually end, the causes of poverty.

Volunteer Opportunities

Registration is open for fall training sessions (dates TBA).

Be an English literacy volunteer tutor and mentor for the ELF's Sage Youth Programs. Work one-on-one, and in small groups with marginalized children and youth.

We are looking for volunteer support from October 2018 to May 2019 to work for our Monday morning program (9:35 am to 11:35 am) in the west-end of Ottawa. This location is in a high-school, serving youth with a broad range of exceptionalities.

You will be provided with all necessary training and materials. A vulnerable sector police check and 2 professional references are required.

Please join us and support students with their literacy and life-skills. Come with your patience and good will to teach, mentor, and become a hero.
