COVID-19 Update

VO is recruiting and deploying volunteers to respond to the volunteer needs specific to COVID-19 in Ottawa, Prescott-Russell, Lanark County and Renfrew County while ensuring proper screening and training protocals to safeguard the health of those volunteering and those they are assisting. Please see the intake portals for volunteers, for members, and for other agencies on our hompage. VO’s COVID 19 volunteer deployment program is supported by the Government of Canada’s Emergency Community Support Fund and the Ottawa Community Foundation.

The Glebe Centre is a 254 bed, not-for-profit long term care home dedicated to providing resident care and community outreach services to clients in the Ottawa community. The Glebe Centre provides specialized care to residents, as well as providing activities and programming in an integrated community setting. The Glebe Centre is dedicated to developing and delivering services that support the highest quality of life for residents and clients. Abbotsford House@The Glebe Centre is a Community and Leisure Resource Centre for adults 55 plus. Abbotsford is committed to providing a comprehensive range of programs and services to seniors living in the community. These programs are designed to help people remain healthy and happy in their own homes.

Volunteer Opportunities

Organization: The Glebe Centre
The Glebe Centre a Long Term Care Home across from Lansdowne Park is in outbreak on one unit. We need volunteers who would be willing to feed residents, answer phones, escort residents in wheel chairs to the dining room and support staff. You will receive full PPE support and training. You will be swabbed every two weeks and be trained to follow all Public Health guidelines.
