The Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre is a not-for-profit centre for healthy living primarily focused on the needs of seniors, providing quality care, with a unique responsibility to provide for veterans and seniors in the community.


Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers needed to help porter elderly residents (walking alongside or pushing wheelchairs) to weekly Ecumenical Service. Volunteers may also help to set up the chapel and provide companionship during the service. This service is open to all residents of our Seniors' Village and is officiated by a number of different Protestant and Baptist ministers. Volunteers needed from 10:00 - 11:30 AM Tuesdays, starting June 4, 2019.

The bus driver is responsible for the safe transporting of senior Residents and participants to various events and activities coordinated by the Perley Rideau. Must possess a valid and applicable class of driver’s license, with a clean driving record; ON – Class F

The Perley & Rideau Veterans' Health Centre Foundation is one of the 6 recipient charities selected for the HOPE Volleyball SummerFest and we want to show our support by providing a team of 50 volunteers to help with the event on July 13, 2019 at Mooney's Bay. Volunteers will work in pairs selling beer and liquor tokens in three possible bar locations (Main Stage, VIP, or HOT Lounge). Activities and responsibilities include:
• Validate Age of Majority of patron prior to selling beer and liquor tokens
• Verify acceptable Age of Majority identifications and apply ‘ID’ bracelets to patrons’ wrists
• Sell beer and liquor tokens; calculate amounts owed
• Handle cash and provide change

Volunteers must be a minimum of 19 years of age or older to sell tokens. Smart Serve Certification is an asset and encouraged. For this area, volunteers should be comfortable in dealing with the public, being in large crowds and handling cash.

Experienced table tennis players assist seniors to enjoy the sport every Sunday afternoon. Volunteers should be able to retrieve balls (nets provided to avoid bending) and serve/return the ball so it is accessible for the seniors to continue play.

Support a volunteer with a disability by guiding through the
home and assisting to take off and put on coat at start and end of shift. On Thursday afternoons, will visit veterans together as a team & may help with group activities such as Bingo. ** Please apply online at www.perleyrideau.ca **
