We are a community service centre located in one of the lowest income areas in Ottawa. OUR MISSION is to provide services to the community that feed and nurture physical and emotional wellness.

OUR VISION - a strong, healthy, safe, self-sustaining community where the residents are confident, empowered and independent; where those who have need for food, companionship, housing, education, or knowledge, are provided for in a coordinated fashion with dignity and responsiveness.

The Caldwell Family Centre is currently seeking a Volunteer Treasurer who shares the organization’s values to join the Governance Board Team. The ideal candidate will have the time to offer meaningful contributions, and the skill set, expertise and experience necessary to help guide the organization to continued success.

Our Mission is to reduce the impact of poverty in Ottawa. Our Vision is a city without poverty where all residents live with dignity.

Overview of The Board’s Role:
The Board's role is to ensure that the Family Centre establishes strategic priorities and maintains the trust of the community by being clear in its mission, prudent and ethical in its activities, and accountable for its actions. Board Members are individual role models and inspire others to contribute their talent and support to the community. The Board’s focus is on governance, planning, policy-making, and strategic direction.

The Treasurer provides supports and guidance in the financial management of the Family Centre; reviews and monitors the financial data and reports to the Board.

As Chair of the Audit and Finance Committee, the Treasurer oversees the financial policies and helps ensures a smooth process with the annual audit.

Working with the Executive Director, the Treasurer reviews the annual draft budget before it is presented to the Board for approval.

The ideal candidate will:
• possess a strong knowledge of financial management and accounting, (CPA, CA, CMA or CGA designation preferred);
• have minimum of 5 years' experience as a Treasurer or Financial Controller;
• have experience working with a non-profit governance board;
• be 18 years of age or older and not have an undischarged bankruptcy.
