Les possibilités de bénévolat

Volunteers provide general support and assist to enhance the quality of the patient visit through fostering a caring and compassionate environment. In addition volunteers will be asked to assist staff in providing basic services to improve quality of care in serving snacks for the patients and assisting in deliveries/errands within the hospital
• Display a warm, friendly, polite and outgoing personality
• Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, displaying tact, diplomacy and professionalism
• Must have a customer service orientated approach to serving the public
• Display a neat and professional appearance always wearing the proper uniform and QCH ID badge
• Must have the ability to physically remain mobile throughout the shift and be able to push patients in wheelchairs &/or carts as required
• Ability to work well as a team member, take and follow through on directions with minimal supervision required
• Maintain knowledge of current hospital activities and layout
• Ability to cope with apprehensive and anxious patients and families
commitment: one 3 hour shift per week.

The volunteer provides a high level of customer service in a compassionate and respectful manner. Greet and Welcome all patients coming into the Cancer Centre and direct to appropriate waiting areas.
Qualifications: Qualifications:
1. Warm, friendly, polite and outgoing personality.
2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, utilizing tact and diplomacy.
3. Ability to tailor communications to the audience.
4. Customer service oriented approach to serving the public with a true desire to work with and meet the public.
5. Works well as a team member, takes and follows through on direction with minimal supervision required.
6. Completed pre-screening process including Reference Letters, Police Check, and Health Screening.

Commitment: one 4 hour shift per week.

Volunteers assist and serve customers in the shop selling gift items, sundries, magazines, flowers, etc.
• To operate the Gift Box in a professional manner; opening on time, making sure all customers are served, assisting customers whenever possible, keeping the shop looking fully stocked, clean and organized, operating P.O.S. (Point of Sale) system and any other duty it may take to operate a successful Gift Shop.

Program Summary: Volunteers spend time with and support palliative patients and their families. (A 10-week course is required before participating in this program.)

Location: Various locations throughout the hospital

Hours of Service: Mornings, afternoons and evenings

Volunteer Commitment: Minimum one shift per week. The hospital relies on the commitment of all our volunteers.
