The Ottawa Paw Pantry is the area’s dedicated non-profit pet food resource and was established to help prevent the abandonment or surrender of animals when their families cannot afford to feed them.

When your pets have become extensions of your family, you want nothing but the best for them. Giving up a family pet because you can’t provide food is a very difficult experience for both the humans and the animal.

The Ottawa Paw Pantry provides temporary food assistance to qualifying low income pet owners who are currently unable to afford food for their pets and may be forced to give up their pets without food assistance.

The Ottawa Paw Pantry relies on its Outreach Committee to help spread the word, raise funds, and connect us to the Ottawa Community. We are looking to form our committee which will report to the Outreach Co-Managers.

There are a number of areas we are looking to cover including:

Fundraising and Events (multiple opportunities)
Acting as the point of contact for events and fundraisers, these volunteers will lead the events initiatives with the support of your fellow committee members. That said, should you not be able to attend one of the events, you will be responsible for reaching out to the Volunteer Manager to ensure the volunteers have been assigned adequately to support the event.

Media Relations
This volunteer should be connected to the media industry in Canada (both traditional and non-traditional channels). This committee member will lead the outreach on the media front and be responsible to contacting channels as appropriate to promote events, fundraisers, and other initiatives. Likewise, this person should bring creative ideas for stories.

Blog Post Writing
Working with the Social Media Coordinator on a content calendar, this volunteer should have a flare for storytelling. Posts might include tips for the season or holiday, events, or a celebration of one of the quirky animal holidays out there.

Members of this committee will meet regularly to strategies and brainstorm ways to increase awareness. Although you may be designated a specific area of focus, you are encouraged to contribute to other areas within the committee.
There is a great opportunity to make these positions yours and customize them to your strengths. Have an idea to help us increase awareness? We want to hear it!
