The ELF offers a low-cost, highly effective solution to ending Canadian poverty. Utilizing literacy as a tool for youth leadership, empowerment, and critical success skills, the ELF breaks the cycle of poverty our youth experience. We are not a response-based organization, our mission is to prevent, and eventually end, the causes of poverty.

Les possibilités de bénévolat

Registration is open for volunteer training sessions (dates TBA).

Be an English literacy volunteer tutor and mentor for the ELF's Sage Youth Programs. Work one-on-one, and in small groups with marginalized children and youth.

We are looking for volunteer support from September 2019 to June 2020 in our after-school tutoring program (our new after-school program in South Ottawa (near Hunt Club and Bank) that serves children and youth from families that are refugee claimants). This program operates on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00pm-5:30pm.

(We ask that you commit to a minimum of one time slot, one day per week.)

Please note that our current volunteer placement opportunities require tutors who are 18 and over and who are comfortable tutoring in English.

You will be provided with all necessary training and materials. A vulnerable sector police check and 2 professional references are required.

Please join us and support students with their literacy and life-skills. Come with your patience and good will to teach, mentor, and become a hero.

We look forward to hearing from you!
