CALLING ALL HEROES!!!!!

CNIB's Anual Walk-a-thon is returning to Ottawa and this year it is going to be bigger and better then ever! This year the whole event is Superhero themed and we are celebrating the "Heroes" within the sight loss and local community. All proceeds from the event go to straight into supporting programs for kids with sight loss.

In addition to the 5km starlit walk we will also have an evening of costume contests, games, blindflolded activities, a shorter 1km walking option and much, much more.

In order to make it a sucess we need the real heroes of the commuity: VOLUNTEERS!

Help is needed in the following areas:

-Sighted Guides

-Route Marshalls

-Registration

-Costume Contest (organizers and juges)

-Running activity stations

-Set-up /tear-down

-TBA

Calling all Foodies!

Hello I’m Julia Canning, Manager of Community Giving, CNIB Ontario East. I’m looking to put a committee of 5-8 people to help plan and execute a Dinning-in-the-Dark gourmet dinner and (potentially) blindfolded live auction to occur on March 25th 2020.

As the name indicates Dinning in the Dark is a fundraising dinner where individuals are blind folded throughout a meal, and therein able to experience their meal at a whole new level.

The Ottawa is recurring event and is building on the success of last year. The theme for DITD 2020 is "A Celebration of Influential Women."

The DITD committee will help plan and execute the event.

Ways comittee members can contribute include:

-Recommending and/or contacting potential event sponsors

-Recommending, tasting and approving a menu

-Day of logisticts

-Organizing silent/live

-Fundraising

-Selling tickets

-Media and promotions

The commitment will be approximately one meeting every 2-weeks, with date, time and frequency to be determined by members. Please get apllications in ASAP as we are already in the planning stages.

This is great opportunity to be involved in the planning of a very unique experience.

If you are interested or if you have someone you would like to suggest for this committee:

-Please contact: Julia.canning@cnib.ca

-Please inlcude your CV and/or breif descrption of why you would like to volunteer on this committee and what youi will bring to the team.

-Please quote "Ottawa DITD" in subjet line.

Regards,

Julia Canning
