Description

Helping With Furniture(www.helpingwithfurniture.org) is a volunteer-run charitable organization that provides gently-used furniture and household goods to families and individuals in situations of hardship. Most of the families helped are referrals from social agencies. These families may have fled from conflict or life-threatening situations.

Once a week, the organization collects the gently-used furniture items from donating residences, and delivers these items to the families in need.

Before these deliveries, volunteers do an assessment of the needs of the individuals/families we help.
The Visitor Coordinator would :
--Conduct a preliminary needs assessment by contacting families by telephone to confirm what essential furniture they have and what they need, and to update contact information (names, address, telephone numbers, etc.)
--Based on these assessments, assign visiting teams (2 or 3 families to visit, on a weekly basis)
--Manage the visitation schedule for the team
--Send out a visiting schedule to the visiting teams, every 3 or 4 months
--Help maintain and update the Visitor Handbook
--Maintain the waiting list of families
--Answer visitor's questions, as necessary
