CN Cycle for CHEO - Route Assistant (Early Shift)

Description

Date: Sunday, May 6

Time: Plan to arrive by 5:30 a.m. and check-in at the Volunteer Registration Area – follow the signs. Your shift is 5:30 a.m. – noon.

Duties: Assemble and place barricades and pylons along the route. Responsible for traffic control by directing cyclists, in line skaters and walkers, inform motorists of road closures, and take down pylons and barricades following the event. Route Assistants work in pairs. You will be given a safety vest and must return it before leaving.

Prior to Departure: Please sign in at the Volunteer Registration Area. Line up at your bus number in the hall, outside of the cafeteria and be ready to depart at the determined load time/departure time. Your bus supervisor will provide your zone number and details on procedures as you are transported to your assigned barricade. If you have a cell phone, please bring it to facilitate easy communication with your Route Captain. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR POST UNLESS THE ROUTE CAPTAIN GIVES PERMISSION.

As a volunteer, you’ll receive:
- Breakfast snack
- A snack bag to take with you and BBQ lunch when you return
- A short-sleeved CN Cycle for CHEO volunteer t-shirt
- Entry into the volunteer prize draw
- Transportation to and from your barricade

Must be at Least 16 Years of Age.
