Description

Ancoura is looking for two people who could help with handyperson tasks, such as cleaning, painting, hanging curtains or pictures or yard work, in our residences. The volunteer would work from time to time on an as-needs basis or occasional basis.

Volunteer Opportunity Address
Our office is located at 30 Cleary Avenue in the west end of Ottawa. The volunteering would take place in one of our six residences, five located in the west end and one in the east end.

How will this volunteer opportunity benefit you?
The volunteer will have the opportunity to assist those living with a mental illness have a comfortable home. The volunteers will learn about the lives of those living with a mental illness and the challenges of living with isolation and stigma. After six months, and if the work is done well, the volunteer will be able to receive a good reference, helping the volunteer find work.

How will the organization benefit?
Ancoura will benefit from having our six townhomes in the community in good repair and pleasing and comfortable for the residents. We hope to start a new home this fall and will need help setting up the house to suit the new residents. We will also have the opportunity to help the residents in their townhomes kept in a way they are comfortable with. This could involve moving furniture within the home, cleaning and painting, putting up pictures and/or curtains.
