Description

The Accountant role will contribute to the overall success of the company by effectively managing the financial services division with the aim of providing accounting, financial, auditing and taxation services to the organization.

General Responsibilities: Financial Performance and Viability
Examine and analyze journal and ledger entries, bank statements, inventories, expenditures, tax returns and other accounting and financial records to ensure financial recording accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards, procedures and internal controls
Control and evaluate the operation of an accounting, audit or other financial procedures
Examine financial accounts and records and prepare income tax returns from accounting records
Ensure all financial reports are in compliance with provisions of the Income Tax Act, Canadian Business Corporations Act or other statutory requirements
Preparation of all year-end financial statements
Review all internal accounting procedures and provide advice to improve fiscal transparency and responsibility
Professional Qualifications
Preferred bachelor’s degree or college certificate in accounting or financial management
Experience in accounting, auditing, budgeting, financial, planning and analysis of financial activities
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
Effective time-management abilities
Self-motivation
Ability to work well independently and also within a team environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to draw on previous experience and technical knowledge to provide recommendations and services to the benefit of the organization
Enthusiastic attitude with a desire to learn
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
General office software (Microsoft Office Suite)
Roles and Responsibilities
Prepare budget, forecast and annual budget in consultation with the leadership team
Monitor risk management policies and procedures to ensure organization’s risks are minimized
Coordinate with leadership team to maximize income where possible and appropriate

OSCA provides recreational and mentorship opportunities by promoting the physical, social, creative and community-building benefits of skateboarding.

Our programs for kids and youth engage with communities through skateboarding to bring about empowerment and positive change with an aim toward poverty reduction.
