Description

The 'Cook Volunteer' at Shepherds of Good Hope (SGH) works with a team of 3-5 volunteers to prepare the community lunch for 300+ individuals in our Soup Kitchen. The shift takes place from 8:00a.m until 1:00p.m and we are currently in need of help on Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Volunteers are scheduled for one of these days during the week.

Cook volunteers work together with a staff member to decide how the meal will be prepared and what type of soup will be made for the day. The cook shift is fun but can be physically demanding. Volunteers are on their feet for the majority of the shift and are required to be able to lift a minimum of 25lbs. Our cooks prepare food according to Safe Food Handling Standards and with the health and safety of our community in mind.
