Summary:
In collaboration with the Walk for Dementia Committee, the Family Zone Coordinators are responsible for setting up and managing the Family Zone and Family Zone volunteers. This position reports to the Event Coordinator, and will take an active role on the Volunteer Planning Committee.

Responsibilities and Duties
• Attend Volunteer Planning Committee meetings - approximately 4 meetings will occur between March and May. Date/Time TBD
• Explore activity options and associated costs
• Develop and execute an activity plan
• Organize supplies in advance of the Walk for Dementia and help purchase new supplies/activities if needed
• Assign roles to Family Zone Volunteers, and supervise them on event day
• Manage the set-up/tear down of the Family Zone



Requirements, Qualifications and Skills
• Has prior experience with coordinating family and children’s recreation
• Has experience supervising volunteers
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Organized and detail-oriented
• Able to complete work at home, and correspond regularly with the Event Coordinator via email and phone

Be part of this key community event that supports those living with dementia and their caregivers. The Walk for Dementia is one of our key events, bringing together members of the community to show our support for those living with dementia and their caregivers as well as raising funds to support programs and services offered by our organization.

How will the organization benefit?
The Walk for Dementia is The Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County’s signature fundraising event held each May and it has been growing and evolving for over 20 years. The event features a Special Memory Tribute, an Exhibitor Alley, a Family Zone and accessible 1km and 2km walking routes. The Walk for Dementia is a wonderful way to support and pay tribute to caregivers and families in Ottawa and Renfrew County impacted by dementia.
