DescriptionHelping With Furniture (http://www.hwfottawa.org) is a volunteer-run charitable organization that provides gently-used furniture and household goods to families and individuals in situations of hardship. Most of the families helped are referrals from social agencies. These families may have fled from conflict or life-threatening situations. Once a week, the organization collects the gently-used furniture and household items from donating residences, and delivers these items to the families in need.
HWF receives generous support from foundations and granting organisations in Ottawa & Canada. The Foundations & Grants Team Lead will maintain existing relationships and develop new opportunities for HWF to grow its work. Responsibilities will include:
• Identify current and future funding opportunities and ensure alignment with HWF's work
• Coordinate the submission of high quality proposals with support from the fundraising team
• Manage relationships with foundations and granting organisations, including reporting
• Track successful applications and requirements in coordination with the Treasurer
• Support the monitoring, evaluation and reporting of grants through close engagement with other groups
• When appropriate, ensure public recognition of donations, in collaboration with Marketing team.
Time commitment: This role requires an ongoing commitment of around 5 hours a month, with up to 10-15 hours needed when meeting grant application deadlines. This position will be closely supported by fundraising team members (Fundraising Director and ad-hoc volunteers) and the HWF Board.
