Description

Shelter movers Ottawa is a volunteer-based charitable organization that provides moving and storage services at no cost to women and children experiencing abuse. We collaborate with community partners to help families transition to a life free of violence. Growing evidence suggests a significant long-term societal benefit as a result of breaking the cycle of violence. As part of a team, you will work with clients, their advocates, and the shelters. They answer emails requesting help. The job involves sending information requests to clients (often involving assistance and help of advocates). Here they're involved in acquiring information about what the client needs. Making lists of what, where, when, and who is part of move.
Essential Skills & Knowledge:
Strong communication skills--verbal and written.
Advanced interpersonal and public relations skills.
Professional, outgoing manner.
Ability to exercise tact and discretion--including protecting volunteer and client information.
A record of reliability and trustworthiness.
Self-motivated; able to work without supervision.
Able to prioritize workloads and meet established deadlines.
Able to work independently and as part of a team.
High attention to detail.
Familiarity with spreadsheets and database systems.
A positive, 'can-do' attitude.
