The Vice-President, Retail Sales:
a. Plays a leading role in planning, delegating, and executing (where required) all sales performance and store personnel activities, changes, and initiatives.
b. Oversees and directs store managers to efficiently and effectively manage and develop their assigned store and location areas of responsibility.
c. Leads, participates in, or coordinates sales and sales performance related projects as determined, or as assigned to him/her by the FOPLA Board.
d. Works closely with the VP Communications and Communications' Officer on internal and external informational and promotional messaging.
e. Participates in bookstore manager meetings.
f. Develop and implement best practices for all retail locations.
g. Develops reporting and analysis on sales performance for all retail locations and online sales.
h. In collaboration with the VP Communications, Communications Officer and other Directors, and if approved, with the help of external resources, develops FOPLA online sales.
i. Answers sales, store, and product inquiries as needed.
Executive Committee Roles and Duties
a. Serves as a member of the Executive Committee.
b. Assists the President in the performance of his or her duties and may be asked to act as President in the absence of the President.
c. Assists the President in recognizing the contribution volunteers make to FOPLA.
d. Identifies sales and other challenges and emerging issues faced by the organization.
e. Contributes to FOPLA’s organizational strategic planning process.
f. Acts as one of the signing officers for cheques and documents, such as grants, contracts, and applications.
g. Participates in the supervision and evaluation of FOPLA staff.
h. Ensures good relations with the management and staff of the Ottawa Public Library.
i. Fulfills the duties of a Director of the Board.

How will the organization benefit?
Volunteers enable FOPLA to carry out our mission of raising funds to support the Ottawa Public Library (OPL), which allows OPL to enhance their programs and services. Our volunteers sort, shelve, and sell books, but also help our bookstores run smoothly by serving on local committees as Managers or Treasurers, or forming our Board of Directors to carry out special projects that help us grow and evolve.
