Commitment: Long term (6 months to a year)

Availability: Flexible

Language Preference: Bilingual is an asset

Number of Positions Available: 1

Deadline: Apr 30, 2020

HWF exists thanks to the generous people who donate their furniture to us, as well as those individuals who contribute financially to the organisation. As a Fundraising & Communications Assistant, with the support of the Fundraising Director, you will be responsible for creating HWF’s photo repository (before and after of client’s homes) as well as collecting anecdotes and stories from our work. By taking this role, you will ensure that donors understand the impact of their contributions and truly appreciate what HWF is doing in their community, in order to expand our supporter base and strengthen existing relations. This role is undertaken from home, with regular calls and email check-ins with a supervisor and possible in-person team meetings once every few months.

Tasks will vary according to the candidate's interests, and will include, amongst others:
• On a weekly basis, managing HWF's photo inventory of before and after pictures following our visits to clients. This will include extracting the photos from a shared inbox and adding them to a google drive (30 mins to 1 hour each week)
o Documenting how to undertake this working by writing a guide with instructions and best practices for future volunteers to use and build on
• Researching best platforms and options for sharing before/after pictures with our supporters; designing a plan, comparing options and making the case for your recommendation, as well as delivering on that new system (ex. Instagram posts, Facebook albums, website repository, and more) (a few hours over the course of the placement)
• Overall, work to enhance communications with HWF supporters, with the fundraising team in collaboration with the HWF media & marketing team (up to 1 hour a week). This could include:
o Reporting back to donors on the impact of their furniture donations through blog posts and newsletters
o Creating ‘story snippets’ out of various email reports for use on social media
• (optional) Participation in Wednesday move nights to meet with donors and thank donors in person, either at the warehouse or as part of the furniture pickup team
• Making suggestions for continuous improvement to the fundraising team (ongoing)
• Contribute to the overall work of the fundraising team according to interest, including grant proposals and applications, fundraising events (HWF’s annual fundraising gala in April 2020), and more (ongoing – as needed)

• Good communications and writing skills;
• Self-starter who is able to work independently and with minimal supervision
• Track record of taking initiative and proposing new ideas and solutions
