COVID-19 Update

VO is implementing a plan focused on recruitment and deployment of volunteers to respond to the volunteer needs specific to COVID-19. As part of that plan we will be working with Ottawa Public Health and other agencies to ensure proper screening and training protocals to safeguard the health of those volunteering and those they are assisting. Within the next week, volunteers will be able to register for COVID-19 specific volunteering, including virtual volunteering, food delivery and transportation, and agencies will be able to post and/or send VO their COVID-19 specific needs for volunteer matching. In the interim, Agencies can view resources and additional information on our Members COVID-19 Update and volunteer resources are available at our COVID-19 Volunteer Update.

We are looking for individuals who have experience with fundraising, outreach and advocacy. Dynamic and outgoing volunteers are required to assist with Fundraising and Grant Writing Coordination to help us implement our fund development strategy. We wish to raise awareness about the important work that we do in nutrition, education and health in South India. We also wish to explore ways to broaden our appeal and to raise money for our innovative programming. We are looking for someone who can find and write grants that will help our non-profit continue to grow in Ottawa, across Canada and around the world.

Do you have the following qualifications:
- Past fundraising and event experience
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Highly-motivated and well-organized
- Grant writing experience

Canadians Sharing Locally and Globally is a registered charity that relieves the effects of poverty and creates new opportunities in South India and for Worldwide Disaster Relief. Locally we share by engaging volunteers and building awareness of the needs and opportunities that people in South India and elsewhere face. We build awareness in local communities throughout the world for our programs and the direct beneficial relief that the programs deliver.

Globally we share by engaging volunteers all over the world in supporting our charitable partners as we carry out nutritional, medical, educational and disaster relief programs that build health, relieve poverty, improve education and create the foundation for social change.

How will this volunteer opportunity benefit you?
This would be an ideal opportunity for someone recently retired from grant writing/fundraising who is looking for additional engagement in the non-profit sector. The position involves real world charitable experience for those wishing to continue to have a hand in the not for profit sector. Also an opportunity for someone recently retired to continue to contribute in an unstressed manner and to provide direct relief in health and education in South India and for Worldwide Refugees.

We are all volunteers in this small, nimble organization and your work will be from home, with occasional board and coffee meeting updates.

How will the organization benefit?
You will develop the Fund Development Committee to help research and implement our fundraising strategy, identify and research donor possibilities and grant opportunities, and generally reach out to broaden our Canadian Support.
