VO is recruiting and deploying volunteers to respond to the volunteer needs specific to COVID-19 in Ottawa, Prescott-Russell, Lanark County and Renfrew County while ensuring proper screening and training protocals to safeguard the health of those volunteering and those they are assisting. Please see the intake portals for volunteers, for members, and for other agencies on our hompage. VO’s COVID 19 volunteer deployment program is supported by the Government of Canada’s Emergency Community Support Fund and the Ottawa Community Foundation.

Description

Do you have a passion for Home Improvement, DIY projects, landscaping or gardening? Are you working in this field or do you pursue it as a hobby? Looking for a creative individual- you could be a painter, a hobbyist, a "maker" or someone who dabbles in many creative areas. If you are willing to impart your experience and knowledge and enjoy working with youth, this is the initiative for you! Looking to connect a prospective mentor with a youth who has an interest in hands-on projects(particularly simple wood projects, but open to other ideas) to build on knowledge/skills and to possibly learn more about roles in this field.

Student Links is an initiative that offers High School students who have an intellectual disability an opportunity to expand on current interests and hobbies, while discovering new possibilities for life after High School.

Your Role as a Mentor:
- Presenting information about your field of expertise
- Introducing a student to your hobby or industry
- Providing an opportunity for hands-on experience

This is an opportunity for you to help a student by sharing something you're passionate about.

Time commitments are flexible.
