VO is recruiting and deploying volunteers to respond to the volunteer needs specific to COVID-19 in Ottawa, Prescott-Russell, Lanark County and Renfrew County while ensuring proper screening and training protocals to safeguard the health of those volunteering and those they are assisting. Please see the intake portals for volunteers, for members, and for other agencies on our hompage. VO’s COVID 19 volunteer deployment program is supported by the Government of Canada’s Emergency Community Support Fund and the Ottawa Community Foundation.

This candidate will assist the current Lead Volunteer
* Developing and overseeing the SOG Program carrying out our Mission & Strategic Plan;
* Reporting to monthly meeting of the COG OSO Steering Committee under the umbrella of COG a national charity;
* Leading the SOG Program with support from the SOG Advisory Group
* Developing SOG budgets and ensuring fundraising plans and liaising with funders of the SOG program ;
* Overseeing financial affairs, programming, community relations and communications.
This volunteer opportunity would involve about 10-12 hours monthly on a flexible basis but would require at least a one-year commitment with availability for one monthly evening meeting in person or virtually. SOG is currently active in the City of Ottawa but our geographic location depends to some extension on the sources of our funding. We expect the successful candidate to live in the city of Ottawa.
