VO is recruiting and deploying volunteers to respond to the volunteer needs specific to COVID-19 in Ottawa, Prescott-Russell, Lanark County and Renfrew County while ensuring proper screening and training protocals to safeguard the health of those volunteering and those they are assisting. Please see the intake portals for volunteers, for members, and for other agencies on our hompage. VO’s COVID 19 volunteer deployment program is supported by the Government of Canada’s Emergency Community Support Fund and the Ottawa Community Foundation.

We are looking for individuals who have experience with social outreach and advocacy. We wish to raise awareness about the important work that we do to improve access to nutrition, education and health care in India. We also wish to explore ways to broaden our appeal and to raise money for our programming.

Do you have the following qualifications:
- Past outreach, advocacy, and fundraising experience
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Highly-motivated and well-organized

Canadians Sharing Locally and Globally is a registered charity that relieves the effects of poverty and creates new opportunities in South India and for Worldwide Disaster Relief. Locally we share by engaging volunteers and building awareness of the needs and opportunities that people in South India and elsewhere face. We build awareness in local communities throughout the world for our programs and the direct beneficial relief that the programs deliver.

Globally we share by engaging volunteers all over the world in supporting our charitable partners as we carry out nutritional, medical, educational and disaster relief programs that build health, relieve poverty, improve education and create the foundation for social change.

How will this volunteer opportunity benefit you?
This would be an ideal opportunity for someone recently retired from advocacy and outreach who is looking for additional engagement in the non-profit sector. The position involves charitable experience for those wishing to continue in the not for profit sector. Also an opportunity for someone recently retired to continue to contribute in an unstressed manner and to provide direct relief through better nutrition, health and education in India and for Worldwide Refugees.

We are all volunteers in this small, nimble organization and your work will be from home.

How will the organization benefit?
You will develop and maintain platforms for outreach and advocacy to help research, create and implement our outreach strategy.
