Reports to Operations Supervisor and Executive Director

Job purpose

The psychotherapist position is responsible for the screening, assessment, and counselling of our clients in the program. You will provide group and individual counselling as needed and work collaboratively with other outside service providers as required. The Counsellor is also actively involved in program evaluation and quality assurance improvement based on Best Practices in Ontario. The ability to function independently and frequently under pressure, while managing multiple concurrent tasks including emergency situations is an ongoing expectation of this position.

Duties and responsibilities
• Report to the Clinical Manager and senior staff members, work with an outpatient multidisciplinary services team;
• Conduct individual and group therapy sessions in a clinical setting;
• Utilize a client-centered approach and ensure well-coordinated care;
• Create and maintain progress notes, reports and any other written material required, in a timely manner;
• Ensure proper clinical interventions are implemented;
• Participate in clinical team meetings as needed;
• Assist with research projects as needed;
• Maintain the high standards of practice required by Trafalgar Residence;
• Ensure all aspects of confidentiality and data protection relating to both Trafalgar Residence and individuals are maintained at all times;
• Participate in individual performance reviews and respond to agreed upon objectives;
• Attend clinical, case management and managerial supervision as required;
• Attend and be an active participant in team meetings, team training and other internal team meetings, etc.;
• Attend external meetings, forums, conferences, training, etc., as required by Trafalgar Residence senior management;
• Refer all press/media inquiries to Senior Management

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Mental Health or other related health field;
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working as a Psychotherapist/MSW/Therapist.
• Be a member in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists
• Able to work independently as a team and provide detailed and accurate daily reports;
• Maintain knowledge, skills, and abilities by keeping up to date regarding professional standards through reviewing current literature, attending workshops/seminars and networking with colleagues.
• Experience in addictions considered a strong asset
• Ability to work in dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Dedicated, committed individual looking to apply clinical skills in challenging/stimulating environment

Hours of Work

• 10:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. at least two days a week
