Description
Canadian Parents for French is looking for volunteers to act as online French mentors for children enrolled in our WIGUP Club pilot program. WIGUP.tv allows children aged 9-14 to unearth their uniqueness, WIGUP.tv is a Creative Social Network for Schools that allows students to have a secure access to more than 2000 inspiring videos that help develop their critical thinking skills. These videos are also excellent triggers to launch publications by students of their own videos, articles and photo projects as well as WIGWOWs (interactive presentations).
Tutors will help children by speaking in French, helping them with written assignments and providing tech support for the WIGUP creations. Tutors will receive extensive training on the WIGUP platform. Volunteers must be comfortable working with young kids and in both French and English.
We are recruiting for volunteers who can dedicate 1.5 to 2 hours per week (minimum) for our pilot program which runs through the end of April. Volunteers choose their own schedule each week. This program runs 6 days a week. This program will run from February 1, 2021 through June 1, 2021. Orientation and training provided to all volunteers. This position is virtual, and tutors will work with kids across Canada to help them maintain their French, help them create online projects via a platform known as WIGUP.tv.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong spoken and written French and English is a needed. Tutors will be working in both official languages.
Prior experience working with children and youth is encouraged.
Must have access to a computer, laptop or tablet with a microphone and camera.
Volunteer Mentors must be at least 15 year of age.
