VO is recruiting and deploying volunteers to respond to the volunteer needs specific to COVID-19 in Ottawa, Prescott-Russell, Lanark County and Renfrew County while ensuring proper screening and training protocals to safeguard the health of those volunteering and those they are assisting. How will this volunteer opportunity benefit you?
An extensive training program includes a general volunteer orientation session, feeding handbook & video and a hands-on training with the PSW Supervisor. Volunteers are supported, at all times, by registered nursing staff.
Per existing pandemic protocols, all Perley Rideau volunteers are tested for COVID-19, on site, every week. All individuals entering the home are screened daily for COVID symptoms and their temperature is checked upon entry and exit. Volunteers will be provided with a clean, procedural mask at every visit and a face shield to be worn while interacting with residents.
Volunteers will be assigned to one of our 12 resident units, ensuring consistency serving a group of no more than 40 residents.
Our screening program includes an interview, reference checks, vulnerable sector check and tuberculosis assessment. Annual flu vaccination is strongly encouraged. We require a minimum 3-month commitment.
