Writer (letters to the editor, op-eds) as a group volunteer advocate

Organization: Results Canada

Commitment: Ongoing (more than a year)

Availability: Flexible; Evenings

Language Preference: English

Number of Positions Available: 10

Location: Flexible

Deadline: Dec 23, 2020

Results is a global movement of passionate volunteers committed to advocating for a world without extreme poverty. We take action like reaching out to Members of Parliament and getting published in the media with the aim of leveraging better funding for policies and programs that alleviate extreme poverty. Each advocacy campaign harnesses a strategic opportunity to make an impact by formulating a concrete and timely ask to present to our elected officials.

As an international development advocacy organization, we are looking for people who love to write and are keen on submitting letters to the editor and/or op-eds to the media on issues that touch on international development and global health (access to education for girls, importance of immunization/vaccines, safe water access, tuberculosis, children's and mother's health, etc.). We will provide you with tips and tricks, support, details on issues to write on, etc.

You will become part of a group who either meets virtually or in-person (when it'll be safe to do so). You will support one another in getting published about Results Canada's issues on extreme poverty.

TO APPLY, please fill out this online form on Results Canada's website. We'll send you the steps to becoming a volunteer directly in your email inbox:
REGISTER for our Virtual National Conference coming up on Nov 14-15. We will host plenaries, sessions, and workshops filled with information and insight on global health and advocacy in the current COVID-19 context. You will be able to network with fellow volunteers, learn new skills, and hear from experts in the sector where you can ask questions and add to your toolkit of advocacy knowledge. There is even a short information session about volunteering with Results Canada just before we kick off the conference (9:30am-10:00am EST, Sat Nov 14). Registration to the Conference is required:
