COVID-19 Update

VO is recruiting and deploying volunteers to respond to the volunteer needs specific to COVID-19 in Ottawa, Prescott-Russell, Lanark County and Renfrew County while ensuring proper screening and training protocals to safeguard the health of those volunteering and those they are assisting. Please see the intake portals for volunteers, for members, and for other agencies on our hompage. VO’s COVID 19 volunteer deployment program is supported by the Government of Canada’s Emergency Community Support Fund and the Ottawa Community Foundation.

Description

A sign language interpreter is responsible for helping ONYX clients understand what is being said in a variety of situations. An interpreter must understand the subject matter of discourse so he or she can accurately translate what is being spoken into sign language. Volunteers may work part-time. During this outbreak period interviews and work may be done from home, however, as an essential service provider, the organization has taken steps to ensure that safety precautions are taken within the office should one need to come in. Dedication to this position is important.
